The Tall Group has added another award to its collection - this time for its developing export business.

The Tall Group has added another award to its collection - this time for its developing export business.

The UK group's Runcorn division, Tall Security Print, has been presented with an International Discovery Award by the Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, which represents businesses in Runcorn and neighbouring Widnes.

The award aims to honour a company that has shown initiative in building up export trade and to encourage other businesses to develop overseas markets.

Tall, which is a security printing specialist, already works for the UK's leading banks, building societies and financial institutions, but has now branched out overseas supplying special cheques to various countries including Kenya, Kuwait, Tanzania and Uganda, said the company.

"The company has been investigating the export market and activity has steadily built up during the course of the year," explained Bill Lamb, group financial director at Tall.

"We are delighted that this side of the business is developing so successfully and, of course, it is always pleasing to have your achievements recognised by an outside body." As part of its commitment to developing overseas trade, the Tall Group has appointed Cas Amato as its export sales manager.

Tall was amongst a number of companies honoured at the Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise annual dinner and business and training awards.

The International Discovery Award was presented to Bill Lamb by Phillip Envoy, director of marketing for UK Trade and Investment, the Government's international trade arm, which sponsors the Passport to Export scheme.

Tall Security has signed up to the scheme enabling it to access funding and training to support its export trade business.

Open solely to SMEs building overseas markets, the scheme provides a package of export help tailored to individual companies' needs.

Bill Lamb added: "This initiative will help us to further develop and implement our export plans.

We are an expanding company and now we are going a step further - literally." Earlier this year Tall Security made it through to the finals of the medium business category in the Cheshire Business Awards.

It has Investor in People status, having first gained the accreditation in 2000 and it also holds ISO9001:2000.

The latest award is the second honour received by the Tall Group this year with its Hinckley division, Checkprint, winning the Queen's Award for Enterprise in April 2005.
