Security Printer Turns Round 15m Ballot Papers

A Tall Security Print product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Apr 20, 2007

Runcorn (UK) Tall Security Print has won an order to produce 15 million ballot papers for the five different elections taking place in the Nigerian elections.

Tall's export sales manager, Cas Amato, said: "Nigerian Security Printing and Minting plc, which is in charge of the overall ballot paper printing process, put the job out to tender some time ago.

Ballot papers are a first for Tall, so we were especially pleased to learn we had been awarded the contract." He added: "The product is fairly straight forward but the volume and the extremely fast turn-around make it very different from any normal security printing process.

The nature of parliamentary elections make for a very short lead time and the Nigerian elections, which in this case featured a number of last minute changes, are no different." With the order now fulfilled, Cas Amato and his team admitted to having some satisfaction in the part they have played in the democratic process shortly to take place in Nigeria.

Amato said: "It's gratifying to know that Tall has played a small part in the process.

The Nigerian elections are receiving global attention but for those of us who worked on this contract our interest will be a little more personal." The forthcoming presidential election on April 21 will be the first in the country's history to see the handing over of office from one civilian president to another.
