The coated solid bleached sulphate (SBS) paper brand, New Gemini, has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification New Gemini's official FSC stamp of approval will take effect in October and the stockists predict this will open up exciting opportunities in the coated board market, said Tullis Russell

To achieve the certificate, manufacturers are independently audited to ensure the highest standards are maintained, added the company.

New Gemini, a one and two-sided coated SBS brand is available in a range of weights and sizes including a 530gsm C2-S grade.

The ECF twin-wire base construction and double coated surface are claimed to provide bulk and stiffness and a smooth and glossy finish.

According to Tullis Russell, the accreditation of New Gemini is testament to the fact that top quality paper and board can be achieved from renewable resources, thus championing environmental awareness within the paper industry.

New Gemini is distributed in the UK through stockists Premier Paper Group, Premier Hedsorboard and James McNaughton.

FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world's forests.

To gain FSC certification, a forest must be administered in a manner beneficial to both the environment and to society, as well as being economically viable.

The FSC system tracks the wood fibre through the supply chain, thus assuring the end user that they are not contributing to the destruction of the environment.
