Following the re-branding of its coated SBS board range, Trucard, in 2006, Tullis Russell has published the Tru Guide, a handbook for users and specifiers of coated board.

Designed by Graphic Partners and printed by Capscan in Edinburgh, the guide is said to give users and specifiers of Trucard the information required to make an informed choice.

The case-bound guide, which has been translated in to 10 languages, is being distributed by merchants across 16 countries.

Tullis Russell said the guide covers an array of subjects, including board construction, folding and creasing, printing and conversion and paper handling, as well as a glossary of print and paper terminology.

The guide also shows a variety of print finishing techniques achievable on Trucard, including embossing, die cutting, foil blocking and UV varnishing in gloss, matt and silk finishes.

The Trucard product range, which is fully FSC accredited and fully recyclable, offers a choice of coated SBS board.

A recycled option has also been added to the range that Tullis Russell claimed gives users greater choice when looking for board with sound environmental credentials.

In addition to the core range of one and two side coated products, specifiers can also choose from a number of special options.

They include Trucard 1 gloss book for book covers, Trucard 1 gloss extra, with a lick back coating designed for card applications and Trucard 1 and 2 gloss laser.

Product swatches and product information sheets have been produced for Trucard 1 gloss, Trucard 2 gloss and Trucard 2 matt and provide technical information.

Copies of the swatches and the new guide are available through local trucard stockists.

Malcolm Sinclair, marketing director at Tullis Russell, explained: "Our flexibility and innovation have allowed us to successfully develop the Trucard range across many markets.

That puts us in a very strong position to service our customers in the growing SBS coated sector.

We are confident that Trucard aligns perfectly with the needs of a more demanding European marketplace.".
