Report Highlights 2005 US Industry Demographics
Trend Watch Graphic Arts has released its 2005 Graphic Arts Market Demographic Profiles report for the USA, an update to the Demographic Profiles report published in January 2004.
The first three product categories scheduled for release will be commputer-to-plate (CTP) equipment, wide-format printers and digital colour printing systems.
TWGA said its 2001 study was the first of its kind.
It developed market share and installed base data for more than a dozen graphic arts products - from offset presses and digital printing equipment to graphic arts film and plates, desktop scanners and CTP equipment - in more than a dozen industry segments.

Report Looks At Commercial Print's Packaging Role
Trendwatch Graphic Arts has released its first special report on the commercial printing industry's investment in the packaging marketplace.
These data were supplemented by nearly a decade of TWGA analysis of trends to put market share and installed base numbers in context, as well as to provide a seven-year forecast for each equipment and product category.
The resulting installed base market share benchmark study was a crucial research tool for subscribers, as well as many other companies industry wide said the organisation.
TWGA now believes that changing technology and business dynamics within the graphic arts markets have made the process of understanding the future in the industry difficult at best.
The organisation said it is important to understand the true state of the business and how many companies had integrated supply chain management or implemented a direct-to workflow, for instance.
What is really happening, not just in commercial print shops and pressrooms but also amongst print customers and the cusotmers of those print customers? TWGA said that the updated study will provide data on installed base estimates for key equipment; five-year forecast projections for all products; market size and share for 2005 and five-year estimates; North American coverage; enhanced trending (market, technology, purchases) based on TWGA surveys and strategic advice for subscribers.
The targeted segments will include small commercial and quick printers; sheetfed commercial printers; web and publication printers; digital printing businesses; inplant printing departments; newspapers; pre-press service bureaux; package converting operations; book and magazine publishers; catalogue publishers; graphic designers; advertising agencies and corporate design departments.
The study will provide brand tracking of major industry manufacturers with names like Creo, Epson, Fuji, Heidelberg, Hewlett Packard, Xerox, amongst many others said the organisation.
It is claimed that the new study will be enhanced by a larger sample size multiple research techniques to ensure proper coverage of market segments.
The study will be driven by a special mail survey to 10,000 graphic arts end users.
Survey responses will be tabulated by market, size of establishment and brand of equipment, software, and consumables.
