Keenes, the London-based specialist pre-press services company, has added digital printing to its range of services by investing in a Xerox Docucolor 6060.

Keenes, the London-based specialist pre-press services company, has added digital printing to its range of services by investing in a Xerox Docucolor 6060.

The turnkey system, supplied and integrated by Turning Point Technologies (TPT), includes a Creo Spire RIP, Darwin personalisation software and a Morgana Digifold finishing unit and enables the company to provide fast turn-around, dynamic print with variable information to its predominately agency and publisher customers, said Xerox.

"Our investment in the Docucolor has enabled us to extend our client offering beyond image capture and information processing to now include application of the final material.

For our clients producing print material with variable content, requiring precise targeting or where market circumstances change rapidly, our move in to digital printing provides a valuable resource.

We aim to deliver digital print with the quality control and high standards that we have set across all our production disciplines," commented Jeff Keene, the managing director of Keenes.

The Docucolor 6060 digital colour press produces customised brochures, one-to-one documents and other print jobs on a wide variety of paper stocks.

Advanced paper capacity, combined with the ability to load toner and paper as it runs, enables virtually non-stop printing to meet critical deadlines.

Keenes has established colour profiles for a range of paper stocks to ensure image quality.

By integrating the Docucolor with the Darwin variable information authoring tool, QuarkXPress files can be turned in to variable data documents, making text, graphics, charts, colours, layouts, backgrounds and entire pages dynamic.

Steve Emerson, managing director of Turning Point Technologies, said: "This is a new direction for Keenes and one they have made with the confidence that its high quality standards will be maintained in its print services as they are throughout the company's pre-press services.

Our strategy is to provide our customers with 'best of breed' technology giving them a very flexible upgrade path to meet their growing production needs, whilst retaining their existing investment." In addition to providing personalised print services to its agency, corporate and publishing clients, Keenes will also act as a digital print reference site for TPT.
