Turning Point Technologies (TPT) has joined the growing list of official PrintIT! Sponsors by donating GBP 10,000 worth of sponsorship support.

Turning Point Technologies (TPT) has joined the growing list of official PrintIT! Sponsors by donating GBP 10,000 worth of sponsorship support to the UK industry-wide educational initiative aimed at attracting young people in to the industry.

Steve Emerson, managing director of Turning Point Technologies commented: "There has been talk of the need to attract new, young blood in to the industry for a long time now, but PrintIT! is the first real programme to come to fruition and we believe it is TPT's duty to lend our support to this scheme." Earlier this year, Picon announced a major initiative to raise the profile of the printing industry and encourage young people to take up a career in printing.

Print IT! will introduce GCSE students not only to printing technology, but also to print as a medium and the industry's role as an enabling technology for other industries such as publishing, advertising, marketing, direct mail and packaging.

"It is wonderful to see that we have initiated an educational programme that has really captured the imagination of the industry.

Whilst the PrintIT! team continues to take the project forward at an increasing pace, the progress we are making wouldn't be possible without continuing support and commitment of such companies as Turning Point Technologies and we are most grateful to Steve Emerson and his team at TPT for pledging their sponsorship to PrintIT!," said Martyn Elmy, chairman of PrintIT! The Print IT! initiative has been developed by Picon in association with the Specialist Schools Trust (SST) and the Fairtrade Foundation.

The SST, the leading body for the UK Government's specialist schools programme, has a network of over 2,400 affiliated secondary schools.
