In the words of DL Interactive's finance director Rexford Ladd, his company's GBP250,000 investment in a workflow, soft-proofing and asset management system is providing rewards The system, from Turning Point Technologies, according to Ladd, has "considerably broadened the range of services we could offer our clients overnight." The Farringdon, London (UK) company specialises in providing pre-press support to customers, such as the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, The Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, who all insist on the highest quality colour and reproduction standards

A significant amount of publication pre-press work is also handled for companies such as Charterhouse Communications, Orion Publishing, Laurence King, IFS, Story Worldwide and Panini Worldwide.

The new integrated system provides DL Interactive with an automated workflow, browser-based soft proofing and on-line production tracking tools.

It comprises Dalim Twist workflow, Dalim Mistral web-based production management, Dalim Dialogue browser-based soft-proofing and Xinet Webnative asset management.

Utilising Dalim Software the company has launched its Netmedia on-line publishing system to enable clients to track and manage their magazines and assets.

Netmedia offers on-line flat planning, softproofing, print management, file tracking and asset management services.

They can be used independently or together, to create an all-inclusive global workflow.

Rexford Ladd is very clear about why he invested in TPT technology: "As a small nine-man team we need a system which gives us control, speed, efficiency and reliability.

This production system is very powerful and automated, yet easy to configure to handle a variety of workflows.

The ability to give our customers on-line access to their jobs to monitor and approve jobs direct from their desktops is an important 'added-value' service and will be an important part of our business in the future." He added: "In fact, the response from customers has been excellent and we have already grown our business as a result of the investment." The company is aiming to attract art book pre-press back to the UK and is starting to have some success with major galleries and fine art publishers.

Rexford Ladd explained: "New technology is enabling us to beat overseas competition on price, quality and service.

We can't afford to stand still.

If you don't move forward by investing in latest techniques, then you are moving backwards." The company has relied on Turning Point Technologies, exclusive UK distributor for Dalim Software and Xinet, to provide production technology for many years.

Ladd commented: "By integrating best of breed products TPT has presented us with an impressive system and integrated it quickly within the business with immediate effect.".
