Communisis Buys New Management, Workflow Systems
As part of its strategy to continue to provide its clients with management production support and allow for further expansion, Communisis Print Management Services has new technology.
As part of its strategy to continue to provide its clients with management production support and allow for further expansion, Communisis Print Management Services (PMS) has made a significant investment in new technology at its Leeds 'centre of excellence'.
Turning Point Technologies (TPT) has won the contract to provide Xinet asset management and Dalim Software workflow and soft proofing technology, alongside an IT infrastructure and storage upgrade.
It is the latest phase of the Communisis's multi-million pound, investment in developing print management services IT over the last 12 months and part of its' commitment to employing technology to provide its clients with the highest level of managed service provided by any print management company today.
With a turnover close to GBP265m, Communisis provides a fully-integrated IT platform.
The advantage to clients is said to be a single interface providing complete control of the supply chain from creative through data management all the way to print.
It provides a high level of brand management and controls every stage of the production process from digital asset management, artwork services, file submission, approvals, print procurement and product ordering through to stock control and distribution, said the company.
The new system going live at Communisis PMS Leeds this month includes Dalim's Twist enterprise workflow featuring that company's Dialogue soft proofing and a full on-line Xinet asset management system.
Communisis's client base features companies in the financial services, telecoms, government, travel, retail and charities, including major European banks, such as Barclays, HSBC, Halifax/Bank of Scotland (HBOS), RBS Group and Lloyds TSB, as well as Sainsbury's, Nike and Gillette.
The company's large-scale contracts with such customers require a high level of management, control and visibility of the entire document process, from creation to procurement, said TPT, which means IT support is key to a smooth operation.
The latest upgrade enables Communisis to broaden its range of services to clients and provides capacity for future expansion.
James Waterhouse, product development director at Communisis, said: "Customers continually look for improved quality, reliability and transparency.
This latest investment enables us to continue to deliver an unrivalled service to our clients and utmost flexibility to our internal production team.
Whilst other print management firms are using bespoke software, we prefer to be in partnership with best of breed technology companies whose primary focus is continuing product development." He continued: "Xinet asset management and Dalim Software workflow are recognised as market leaders and provide an incredibly flexible production management platform.
By closely integrating them with our marketing resource management and internal business management systems we provide our clients with the broadest, most interactive and unbeatably powerful print management service in the marketplace." And he explained: "This allows our customers to manage all aspects of document creation and marketing print in one centralised, secure system with very high levels of control and visibility." Colin Price, TPT's sales director, commented: "This has been a fantastic opportunity.
Working with Communisis on the design and deployment of such a sophisticated and innovative system is very exciting.
Their commitment to achieving the very highest levels of process efficiency and control at every stage of the production process to improve the quality and predictability of printing will dramatically improve service to customers, cut time to market in a competitive industry and result in substantial savings across the board.".
