Total PFS' CreaseMaster PLUS

A Total Print Finishing Services product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Aug 22, 2006

Kent-based print house Arcade Design and Print has significantly increased its finishing productivity having invested in a CreaseMaster PLUS digital impact scoring system.

The CreaseMaster PLUS from Total Print Finishing Services (Total PFS) was purchased following the IPEX 2006 exhibition to streamline the company's finishing capabilities and is supporting its range of Sakurai, Ryobi and Xerox presses by finishing jobs such as booklets, brochures, flyers and other corporate collateral for a wide range of customers, including leading high street chain stores.

Bernard Nertney, director of Arcade Design and Print commented: "We offer services from prepress through to finishing, so when it came to looking for a creasing and perforating machine to support our litho and digital offering, it was critical the product we chose would integrate effortlessly into our existing operation.

We had been looking for a machine that could crease and perforate for some time, but hadn't found one that we felt would suit our specific needs.

We'd been using a small hand-operated creaser and a rotary creaser, but they were struggling to keep up with demand and couldn't manage the digital work, which, can occasionally, be more prone to cracking when creased or folded.

"IPEX gave us the opportunity to make our way around the various finishing suppliers to see what the market had to offer.

It was almost the end of a long day when we saw the CreaseMaster PLUS in action, however, it was clear from the outset this was a machine that would deliver the results we needed. We had seen a number of competitive products being demonstrated, but it was the CreaseMaster PLUS that really stood out from the crowd as a reliable, accurate, competitive and flexible solution.

We were so impressed with what we saw, that we signed the order with Total PFS there and then." Since the CreaseMaster PLUS' installation at Arcade Design and Print in May, volumes of finishing work have increased significantly.

As the machine has offered the company a much greater degree of automation, the quality of the finishing is more consistent, with less wastage.

Having invested in digital presses to support its litho business two years ago, Arcade Design and Print is now looking at purchasing e-commerce software so it can offer its clients the ability to purchase their print requirements online.

It also hopes that such an investment that will attract larger companies.

Bernard said: "Our current customer base is small to medium sized businesses, however, with our new finishing capability, combined with an online offering, we can service the bigger players and by doing so, help increase our bottom line.

The CreaseMaster PLUS will support this initiative as a valued part of our production mix." Bernard concluded: "We have been established for 25 years and during this time we've witnessed a great deal of change and a variety of technologies.

We've been in the game long enough to realise that purchasing new kit means making a long-term investment, so it's important to get it right and choose a supplier that can meet your business requirements.

Total PFS demonstrated its understanding of the market, the technology and our business at our meeting at IPEX, all of which helped to influence our purchasing decision.

We are extremely happy with the product and haven't needed to call on Total PFS since, which in my mind, proves the CreaseMaster PLUS was the right choice!".
