Quarmby, major manufacturer of drip mats (beer mats) has installed a Technotrans ink pumping system, recommended by its inks supplier Flint Inks The company is using four process colour barrels to feed ink to two Planeta Variant presses

Quarmby manufacturing manager Chris Bolton said: "We are committed to buying ink in bulk which helps Flint's cost process and ours.

Flint is large, independent and gives excellent technical support.

Automated inking will help increase productivity in the plant, leaving printers free to worry about the quality and output rather than filling ink ducts." Peter Benton, operations director at Technotrans, said: "The demand for more automated inking is increasing all the time.

In a digital era every means of automating and increasing efficiency and reducing costs has to be grasped to win an edge over competitors.

Tightening environmental legislation will only serve to encourage the trend.".
