Frequent fluid changes and intensive cleaning efforts have a strong impact on the operating costs, according to Technotrans, the German press ancillaries manufacturer.

Its new Spinclean.ctp and Spinclean.d units are claimed to offer enormous cost-cutting potential as they do not use consumables but the centrifugal force of a separator.

Spinclean.ctp, the cleaning system for the CTP process, works in bypass to the developing bath and ensures a permanently clean basin and a constant printing plate quality without affecting the plate production process, said Technotrans.

Operational, purchasing and disposal costs can be reduced with the system, as less fresh developer has to be added.

Technotrans has claimed that savings of 70% have been realised and that less cleaning effort is necessary.

Spinclean.d makes use of the difference in density of water and that of oil and solid matter.

Contaminants are eliminated efficiently without filters in the bypass leading to the dampening unit.

The semi-automatic Spinclean.d allows periodic manual removal of the compact solid matter while the oil phase is continuously discharged.

The automatic version is cyclically discharged in an automatic process.

A subsequent sedimentation system reduces the contaminant load even further.
