Sales Deals Result From Upex Show In South Asia

An Upex product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 12, 2007

With sales deals reportedly completed, 30 international used machinery dealers said that the Upex at Ipex South Asia show in India was a successful introduction to the Far Eastern market for them.

As well as local companies there were exhibitors from Germany, The Netherlands and USA with the largest overseas contingent comprising UK dealers.

According to Upex, show visitors praised the range of equipment offered, from pre-press through to sheetfed and web presses, as well as finishing equipment.

Upex commented that the Indian printing market in particular, with its hunger for modern pre-owned equipment and with the Indian economy quickly developing, its printers are keen to upgrade their operations and expand their businesses.

In terms of used equipment, Upex added that Indian printers prefer to source from overseas, particularly Europe and the UK.

Sheet fed offset specialists Exel said it was impressed with the steady flow of good enquiries throughout the show, which was a view echoed by other used equipment dealers.

Jim Gunn of SM Graphics said: "I was highly impressed by the turnout and was kept continually busy all four days.

We secured orders for around a GBP0.25 million worth of kit and the deposit for a Komori 540 press from a local Indian printer is already in the bank.

I will certainly be back to this show in 2009." Finishing equipment company Nyland Graphics' Steve Nyland commented: "For our first exhibition in New Delhi, Upex at Ipex South Asia was a busy show.

We took a good level of enquiries from quality visitors, securing several sales.

It was also a good opportunity to meet with valued clients from the region that we have supplied equipment to and have supported over the years who were pleased to see us exhibiting.

It was well worth attending and we definitely plan to exhibit next time around." Chris Barrett of Grafitec reported that he had a very good exhibition and returned home with three orders and a number of enquiries.

Mike Steele of Upex said: "We had a very satisfied group of exhibitors.

They found Upex at Ipex South Asia a great introduction to the marketplace.

Dealers commented on the high quality of visitors and good number of new contacts made, with end users and other dealers.

Most importantly, the fact that visitors were so focussed on sourcing kit meant that deals were done.

The show also presented a great opportunity for those already doing business in the area to have meetings with customers.".
