Peter Petyt has been named the new head of corporate finance at the London office of accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young.

Peter Petyt has been named the new head of corporate finance at the London office of accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young.

Petyt joined UHY Hacker Young from Pridie Brewster in December 2004 and he has attracted two new team members to his department.

They are Jonathan Ruffell and Simon Woodcock, who he worked with before his move to UHY Hacker Young.

Both will be involved in research, analysis and transaction support.

Since joining UHY Hacker Young, Petyt has been responsible for increasing the firm's profile in the communications sector, with specific focus on packaging and printing, said the company.

He has also been involved in some transactions, including the sale of a UK subsidiary of a French group to a global financial services company.

He has also been involved in acquisitions of print-related businesses.

He is also currently developing a bespoke service advising companies about AIM listings and pre-IPO funding in the UK.

Petyt commented: "There is a definite need in the market for a specialist corporate finance service, which is integrated with a successful UK and international accountancy practice.

UHY Hacker Young is the ideal platform from which to offer advisory and transaction support services for fundraising and mergers and acquisitions." Petyt is a member of the executive committee of the corporate finance faculty of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales).

A Modern Languages graduate from Oxford and a liveryman of the Stationers' Company, Petyt qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte in 1989.

He then spent 10 years in industry, during which time he was responsible for building companies in to a GBP10 million group through acquisition and organic growth.
