Paper Firm's Reports Declares 'Green' Credentials
UPM yesterday published its environmental and corporate social responsibility report for 2006.
UPM yesterday published its environmental and corporate social responsibility report for 2006.
The report summarises the events of year and discusses, amongst other things, UPM's profitability programme, launched in March 2006 and the development of wood sourcing in Russia.
The document also broadly describes the environmental impact of UPM's operations and its practices to minimise those effects.
UPM's pulp and paper mills' EMAS statement, as well as the mill specific supplements, which will be published later this spring, complement the environmental and corporate social responsibility report as to the environmental aspects of paper and pulp making, said the company.
Marja Tuderman, vice president of environment and CSR at UPM, said: "Together, these publications and other UPM reports give a clear picture of the impact the company's operations have on the environment and society, as well as the way we develop our operations." The environment and corporate responsibility report has been compiled applying the guidelines of the global reporting initiative (GRI).
The report principally includes data on those production units and other functions that were owned by UPM throughout 2006 and on companies in which UPM holds an interest of more than 50 per cent.
The report, published in English, Swedish and Finnish, is distributed to UPM's various stakeholders and it can also be ordered through UPM's website and from the company's outlets in various countries.
The report is available as PDF on the UPM website in English, as well as in Finnish and Swedish.
The reports can be ordered by using an electronic form on the website or by e-mail.
