UPM Shifts Paper Production Between Mills

An UPM-Kymmene Corporation product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 8, 2007

Seeking to improve product quality, UPM is to transfer the production of its Ultra S H 65gsm - 70gsm paper from the company's Rauma PM 1 mill to the Caledonian mill from the beginning of 2008.

The future production location for the Ultra S H 60gsm paper at the Caledonian is still under discussion but the 80gsm Ultra S H paper's manufacturing will be switched by UPM to the Star M mill, or Finesse premium silk will make the move.

At the same time the production of UPM's Cote H paper will come to an end at Rauma PM1 mill .

The mill will concentrate on Ultra H/G and UPM Star H.

All changes will take effect in next year.

Petri Salminen, UIPM's product manager for Ultra papers, commented: "This transformation will result in more effectiveness and better quality in our Rauma mill.

Also, the move of UPM Ultra S H's production to Caledonian will provide a stable production cycle.

That will also enable the continued supply of the grade to the existing customer base.".
