WISA-Image plywood is a new, rigid substrate for for large format direct digital printing from UPM that can also be used for silk screen printing.
WISA-Image is described by UPM as a special plywood overlaid with a coating system It is pre-treated for direct print and it has a non-reflective white surface with adhesive properties
The digital print quality is claimed by UPM to be good, colour-fast and UV tolerant.
The panels are under the PEFC scheme, and can be re-used, or recycled after use.
UPM also claimed that the WISA-Image material is suitable for constructional, long-term outdoor uses, such as signs because it is durable and rigid and endures weather conditions.
Those properties are said to make the product an alternative to those made from various plastics and aluminium.
So far the product has been used in football stadiums and building sites for advertisement fencing systems, added the company.
