Coated mechanical papers from UPM have been elected as the top brands of their type in a European study of market attitudes toward quality and performance.
UPM's winning coated mechanical range includes such brands as UPM Star, UPM Ultra, UPM Cote, UPM Satin and UPM Matt The paper ranges were ranked according to how they are known in the market and how well they meet customers' expectations on a number of quality and performance criteria, as well as customer loyalty towards them

Printing paper producer UPM will be numerous examples of applications for its magazine papers, newsprint and fine papers as well as speciality and packaging papers at Drupa 2004.
The study also identified buying behaviour and purchasing trends.
The results were based on interviews with 300 paper buyers in the heatset web offset printing, gravure printing and magazine publishing sectors in Europe.
In total 20 brand ranges were tracked and they ioncluded Albatros, Fenice, Galerie, Grapho, Holmen Ideal, Holmen Bravo, Leipa Ultra, Maxim, Mirabilia, My, Norcote, Press Selection, Perlentop, Uno, UPM, Steinbeis Character, Steinbeis Charisma, R6 and Royal Press.
The study, "The Top Brands of Coated Mechanical Paper" was conducted by Opticom International Research.
Ken Ehrnrooth, UPM's senior vice president of magazine paper sales, said: "This is fantastic recognition for all those who strive for continuous improvement of our coated mechanical products.".
