One-Off Book Production Easier With Stacker
Ultimate Technographics will release its Impostrip Book Stacker at the Graph Expo exhibition.
It automates any kind of commercial printing imposition where all pages do not arrive at the same time, said Ultimate Technographics.
It is also said to be suitable for web printers that have press and paper imperfections that can be adjusted for in plate making.
The Impostrip template builder uses Origami, a virtual folding interface to plan plates for multiple and partial web rolls.

Automated Imposition For Digital Printers
Ultimate Technographics will be exhibiting at DSCOP, the HP Indigo user group event in Tampa, Florida (USA) to demonstrate how automation can make HP Indigo users more profitable.
Ultimate Technographics added that Impostrip Page Pairing is hot folder driven for imaging plates and does not require users to have all pages ready to start imaging.
The Impostrip Page Pairing module manages individual pages and assembles them automatically to generate a complete plate and signature for imaging, ensuring no waiting time at the RIP.
Impostrip Page Pairing also allows publishers to create an alternate version of their publications by automatically changing some pages to suit regional markets.
The different publications are organised with the concept of printing queues.
Each queue represents a job or a publication, or a different version of the master publication.
It has its own input folder and specific settings, such as naming convention, signature geometry and number of pages.
It also offers the ability to release pages automatically when a flat is paired, added the company.
Impostrip features an original built-in template creator, provides for versioning, as well as including a user-defined job template creator using Impostrip Solo.
It allows for black and CMYK separate output.
At the same time, the system allows the outputting of front, or back, or both automatically.
For instance, a front side may have CMYK and the back flat may be in black.
In that case, the output of the flats cannot go to the same queue in the rip as one will be separated (front) and the other one (back) will be composite.
There are ip to nine alternative versions, which allows users to output versions of the master, as well as localised versions of some pages, providing for output up to nine different workflows for CMYK or black and composite.
Impostrip Page Pairing is a PDF, or PS workflow that does not depend on pre-processing the files through a RIP system.
Finished PDF plates can be processed on any RIP at any location, providing a claimed saving for multiple editions and multiple print site publications.
The software's fanning option is said to allow the creation of profiles based on press specifications.
Some units on the press may have alignment problems and may need a colour shifting.
The fanning profile allows output to different presses without having to define and create specific templates for each press.
To achieve fanning, Impostrip Page Pairing needs to use separated files to control the placement of colours.
The web growth option is claimed to allow the creation of a profile based on use of paper, eliminating the need to make extra templates.
Ultimate Technographics said that it is sometimes necessary on a web press to compensate images, to scale one or more colours and not others to achieve proper registration due to humidity, or excess paper absorption of inks causing dot gain.
Page Pairing offers that ability combined to fanning to create a profile that can address both fanning and web growth.
Each colour can have its own scaling factors without having to create specific templates for each job.
The company added that with the software the need for creating multiple templates for different kinds of jobs is reduced because of dynamic templates that can be used as generic templates with jobs that have different numbers of pages and different size pages.
The dynamic templates can now be linked to hot folder automation in Impostrip.
A fully-working five-day demonstration version of Impostrip Page Pairing 2.0 can be downloaded from the company's website.
