Heatset Web Conditioner From Varn Improves Running
Varn International has launched Apollo 900, a heatset web conditioner that will remoisten the web, while eliminating static and preventing marking or smearing or partially cured ink.
A new solvents manufacturing facility, which will bring 75% of Varn's solvent raw material production in-house, will occupy the additional factory space.
The new manufacturing bay will include seven, 10,000-litre capacity tanks and one 5,000-litre tank.
Four tanks will be used for storage and four for manufacturing the wide range of Varn roller and blanket washes used in sheetfed litho and the coldset and heatset web offset markets.

Together with the introduction of base solvents, improvements have also been made in the storage facilities of other raw materials.
Now materials such as Mono Propylene Glycol, Glycerine, Caustic Soda and Phosphoric Acid can be pumped directly from the delivery tanker into the four newly installed 25,000 litre storage tanks.
This new facility also incorporates several safety features with the delivery tanker being held within a 10,000-litre spillage containment area whilst pumping.
This is said to make the transfer of any hazardous chemicals completely safe and environmentally friendly.
Also incorporated within the new development will be the facility to convert from rolls, ready to use blankets for both web and sheetfed presses.
This new venture by Varn is being headed by Stuart Bell who will oversee a dedicated team within a custom built area designed specifically for the production of blankets.
Stuart has joined the company from Dainippon where he gained immense experience in the manufacture of blankets, said Varn's operations director David Williams.
It is likely that a further five jobs will also be created within the new development.
Williams added: "This important development will maximise the control we have over the quality of the product we manufacture and maintain our competitiveness, with the additional benefit of enhancing the efficiency of our customer service.
This investment is also in keeping with our long-standing commitment to the environment as we will be able to add even more emphasis to our high standards of solvent quality to ensure they comply with the highest possible levels when in use.".
