Varn has produced a range of independent pre-press products including chemistry for both conventional, existing and emerging CTP plates for all leading brands of thermal and photopolymer plates.

Part of Day International, the company has introduced Posi-Dev, a new quality positive plate developer for conventional plates, designed for manual or automatic use that has been specially formulated for use with all the leading brands of positive plates including Agfa Primera, Kodak Capricorn DH/Gold and Fuji FPD.

Posi-Dev Premium is a new high performance premium quality positive plate developer for conventional plates, designed for automatic use with all the leading brands of positive plates including Agfa, KPG, Lastra, and Ipagsa.

It is compatible with processors made by all the worlds leading manufacturers and promotes optimum bath life with minimum replenishment rates providing high performance with economy.

It contains complex additives to double bath life.

Posi-Dev Premium Replenisher is a new high performance premium positive plate replenisher for conventional plates, designed for manual or automatic use.

It is for use with all the leading brands of positive plates including Agfa Primera, Kodak Capricorn DH/Gold and Fuji FPD and is compatible with platesetters made by all the world's leading manufacturers and promotes optimum bath life with minimum replenishment rates.

Specifically formulated for use with the Agfa N91 plate, PND 20 and PNR 20 give no residual kick-out in the processor tanks, which has shown itself to be a major problem with other chemistry providing cleaner plates with optimum image resolution, claimed Varn.

They are new low foam products which give excellent, even development to the plate, as well as extended bath life with minimum replenishment rates.

They are compatible with platesetters made by all the leading manufacturers.

Thermalgold+ is a premium thermal and conventional plate developer suitable for use with all of the leading brands of plates seen in the market today.

Compatible for use in many of the leading processors used in pre-press, Thermalgold+ has been formulated by Varn to use the same solution for the initial bath fill and as a replenisher.

This method is said to ensure that over activity of the bath does not occur yet exceeds the bath life expectancy of the current manufacturers' own development chemistry, claimed the company.

Varn said its chemical expertise has enabled it to formulate a range of chemistry that offers distinct advantages over existing pre-press products including improved bath life with cleaner tanks and increased latitude.

That will enable the throughput of different plate batches without the need to chase coating changes, resulting in fewer stops and increased throughput.

The company said that in the 12-15 years since CTP was shown as a concept and eight years since CTP was first implemented, yet even today many users continue to persist and tolerate costly plate processing problems every month.

The fact is, according to Varn that just using a better plate processing chemistry set up could increase the profitability and ease working practices.

The major benefits brought by the new chemistry are already being proven in many newspapers that are using the Varn PND/PNR CTP photopolymer developer in their processors.

Recently CTP thermal plate users were also added to the list of content customers when they switched from the manufactures developer range to the Varn Thermalgold+.

Not only that Varn is committed to providing a range of pressroom products designed to enhance and compliment the CTP range including a CTP fountain solution and washes formulated to be kind to CTP Plates.

Also for inclusion within the range will be a selection of specially designed Day International printing blankets.

They are constructed to overcome some of the run length limitations that many existing CTP plates suffer from due to softer plate emulsions or the anodic structure used within CTP plates, all aimed at providing an unrivalled advantage to printers who use CTP systems.
