The new Dataflex Plus thermal transfer overprinter (TTO) from Videojet Technologies is claimed to offer the industry's highest reliability, lowest cost of ownership and simplest operation.

Designed for high resolution coding on flexible packaging and labels, the TTO provides on-line printing of variable and real-time data, such as expiry dates, batch and lot codes, ingredients and parts listings, bar codes and logos.

The Dataflex Plus is said to feature proven, patented direct-drive ribbon technology that contains few wearable parts, which increases reliability and minimises downtime and costs associated with ribbon breaks.

The 1,000-metre ribbon is also claimed to be the longest standard length on the market, so there are less frequent changes and higher production line efficiency.

The TTO, according to Videojet also has the simplest ribbon cassette on the market, making change-overs fast and virtually fail safe.

The bi-directional ribbon drive allows unused ribbon to be recaptured following each print.

That maintains a 1mm gap between prints for the complete length of the ribbon, creating more prints per roll and ensuring the highest possible efficiency.

The Dataflex Plus has an 8.4" SVGA graphical user interface and colour touch screen with easy-to-learn, icon-based controls.

The standard WYSIWYG job display features a zoom facility to reduce operator error and minimise the potential for printing incorrect codes.

Three levels of password protection provides added security.
