Vio Worldwide, the supplier of collaborative digital supply chain software and networking services for the graphic arts industry, has appointed Richard (Rick) Dool as chief executive officer.

Rick Dool is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector.

"Vio, already growing rapidly, has set its path for accelerated growth both in Europe and the US and is ready to advance to the next step.

Appointing Rick Dool as Vio's CEO is a key part of the plan for the company's development," commented Richard Horwood, chairman of Vio Worldwide.

"Rick's strong track record in growing successful businesses will prove to be invaluable.

We are delighted to have him lead Vio as we continue to penetrate European and U.S markets," he added.

During the past three years Vio has received $20 million investment into the company and its research and development efforts.

Vio's workflows marry upstream and downstream processes so that, as files are exchanged, all the valuable information captured at the originator's site is used throughout the life of the project, said the company.

"This is an extraordinary time for Vio.

The company has a unique opportunity to capitalise on the major technological advancements it has made for the graphic arts industry.

Vio's products offer significant advantages for our clients and I am pleased to have the opportunity to join the company and contribute to its growth," commented Dool.

Dool will be based at Vio's Roseland, New Jersey (USA) office, with regular visits in Europe to Vio's offices in the United Kingdom, France and Israel.

Prior to Vio, he was a part of Coprindm, leading the life sciences practice for the applications software developer.

In 2000, Dool was president and chief executive officer of Liquent, a software developer of regulatory publishing and intelligence content for the life sciences market.

He also served as president and CEO of Labvantage Solutions, where he helped the company to become one of the largest laboratory software providers for the life sciences and environmental markets.

In 1987, Dool joined The Ultimate Corporation, leading its global software subsidiaries.

He began his career at AT and T in 1978 and served in a variety of sales, marketing and general management positions including division product marketing manager for the voice and data communications equipment division (now part of Lucent).

He received a BA in political science and public administration from Fordham University, an MA in strategic communications and leadership from Seton Hall University and an MS in management from Thomas Edison State College.

He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1973 to 1975.
