Vutek, a division of EFI, has introduced a new 600 dots per inch (dpi) mode for the Pressvu UV 320/400 UV-curing flatbed printer.

Vutek, a division of EFI, has introduced a new 600 dots per inch (dpi) mode for the Pressvu UV 320/400 UV-curing flatbed printer.

The printer features improved text quality for applications that require close viewing, said the company.

Existing Vutek Pressvu UV 320/400 UV-curing flatbed printer customers can upgrade to include the 600dpi capability with no additional cost, starting in the second quarter of this year.

With the upgrade, the Pressvu UV 320 UV-curing flatbed printer customers will have the option of printing in either 400dpi or 600dpi mode.

When available, all new printers shipped will include the upgrade.

Starting at US$299,000, the Pressvu UV 320/400 is claimed by Vutek to be the most productive in its class and is designed to help digital print providers increase profitability.

It accommodates rigid substrates up to 126" ( 3.2 metres) wide and offers productivity up to 1,000 square feet (93 square metres) per hour, equal to 20 - 4' x 8' (14 - two-metre x three-metre) sheets per hour, said the company.

It also features roll-to-roll capability, giving customers the flexibility to offer a full range of services.

It is said to be suitable for applications ranging from billboard to high quality POP and everything in between, added Vutek.

The PressVu UV 320/400 is available as a four-colour model, and prints 400 dpi (and 600dpi when it becomes available) resolution images on rigid substrates up to 1.75" (4.45 cm) thick.

The system is said to print on a range of sheet-fed and roll-to-roll substrates.

Set up can be done by one person in less than one minute, allowing customers to focus their time on producing, not preparing, added the company.

The two-printer-in-one capability of the PressVu UV 320/400 allows customers to print on both rigid and flexible materials, so customers can offer a more comprehensive range of applications, increasing their value to their customers while driving up profitability.

The switch between flatbed and roll-to-roll can be completed in less than a minute, barely affecting the printer's overall productivity.
