Watkiss Automation is taking its collating and booklet making equipment to the Print '05 exhibition in Chicago (USA).

Watkiss Automation is taking its collating and booklet making equipment to the Print '05 exhibition in Chicago (USA).

In the USA the company distributes through a variety of channels, including regional dealers and a national distributor.

At Print '05 Watkiss said it is looking to expand on existing sales and appoint additional dealers in some States.

"We've been selling to the United States for many years but this is the first time that we have taken our own stand at a US exhibition.

The market potential is huge and we are fully commited to realising our fair share of it.

We already sell the Vario range nationally through A B Dick and the Digivac collator range through a network of regional dealers.

We are looking to appoint additional dealers in states where we don't currently have good representation," explained the company's sales director, Paul Attew.

Watkiss will be exhibiting the Digivac collating and finishing system, which features load-on-the-run capability, resulting in claimed non-stop production, as well as the Spinemaster for saddle stitched booklets and its Squareback booklet production capability, which is said to provide the superior appearance of a perfect bound book but with the security of a stitched spine.

The Vario collating and finishing system, which is claimed to be the only truly modular (bin-by-bin) vertical collator in the world, is said to allow users to specify the precise machine configuration to match their particular requirements.

The Vario range includes Watkiss's Document Finishing System (DFS), which is a nearline multi-function finisher for digital print applications.

Watkiss products will also be seen in action on other stands at the exhibition, which runs from September 9-15 2005.

Paul Attew added: "Increasingly, we are providing our booklet making and Spinemaster technology on-line to other manufacturers' equipment.

In particular, the Spinemaster Squareback books are becoming an industry standard - customers are quality conscious and want the best finish possible.".
