Wam!Net, the provider of content creation management and distribution services, has appointed Square Group as UK distributor for its Workspace service and ISDN Connect.

Wam!Net, the provider of content creation management and distribution services, has appointed Square Group as UK distributor for its Workspace service and ISDN Connect.

Square will bundle Workspace and ISDN Connect into a single subscription-based online file storage, remote viewing, sharing and distribution service.

That way, it will combine the simplicity of an FTP file server with on-line collaboration and workflow tools, a web browser interface and the ability to access the system as a network drive.

Workspace can be accessed via any IP connection using a browser, FTP, or Apple File Share protocol, directly from the users desktop, benefiting photographers, designers, pre-media firms, printers, and advertising agencies, for instance.

In addition, it can give companies with Broadband or other always on Internet connections the freedom to communicate with their associates via a variety of routes including: 8-channel ISDN, Wam!Net Direct, and the Internet, but without the need for dedicated ISDN or Wam!Net Direct lines, cards, software and servers.

Low transmission costs are enhanced by a low-cost carrier provided by Square as part of the service which gives savings of at least 50% compared with the standard BT equivalent, claimed Wam!Net.

Immediately available, it will cost £100 per month for an entry-level 2 GB account.

Square, which operates London's largest Applecentre, supplies a broad range of hardware, software and ancillary equipment, in addition to training and support, principally to the design, creative, ad agency, print and publishing sectors.

As a supplier of both 4-SIGHT and Hermstedt products, the company has built up a substantial communications expertise.

"Workspace is the only service currently available that provides an integrated, secure and centralised digital storage and file transfer solution.

Since the launch of broadband, the industry has been crying out for a transition path from ISDN to always on.

Now we can deliver it.," said Darren King, director of Square Group.

"Since we took on 4Sight stock and customer support last year we have been steadily expanding our range of communications products and services and Workspace is a perfect addition to the range," he added.

Square Group has already appointed Pro2col and Viewdata as resellers for its communications services and plans to actively expand its reseller network nationwide.

Wam!Net believe the appointment of Square is important because of its experience as an expert supplier to the design, agency and publishing markets.

Tim Daly, market director, Wam!Net Europe said: "Square has all the attributes that make the company an ideal distribution partner for us and strong sales and support resources to handle the distribution of Workspace to the UK market and to build a reseller network.".
