Press ancillaries manufacturer Weko has announced new product details for the Drupa 2004 exhibition in Dusseldorf.

Press ancillaries manufacturer Weko has announced new product details for the Drupa 2004 exhibition in Dusseldorf.

Weko said it would exhibit an extensive range of products, including new additions to its AP, anti set-off powder sprayer system.

Also on show will be an enhanced version of Weko's RFDi Rotor Damping System, a compact damping unit for continuous digital printing systems, said to be designed to ensure optimised paper conditioning.

The new products to Weko's AP powder sprayer range comprise the AP10 and AP300 series, which compliment the previously launched AP100 and AP200 series.

The system is designed to deliver the benefits of precision anti set-off powder technology, while saving consumable costs through precision metering of the powder, said Weko.

The AP10 system is the latest and smallest system of the AP range and is designed for use where optimal powder spraying results have to be obtained under constrained space conditions.

It is said to be tailored to small offset presses up to size class B3 (50cm x 70cm).

The new sprays use a precise, digitally controlled roller metering system.

That makes it possible to adjust the amount of powder in fine increments of just 1% and to reproduce the same conditions job after job.

This can result in a powder saving of up to 50%, compared with previous systems, claimed the company.

Designed specifically for digital printers, Weko's RFDi Rotor Damping System balances the moisture content of the material web, allowing the original characteristics of the paper to be almost entirely restored Weko believes.

It works by counteracting moisture lost in the fusion process to ensure optimum paper damping and avoids troublesome problems like rippling and curling.

Weko said its RFDi also avoids the problems associated with static electricity, which can cause production faults and lead to downtime and paper spoilage, where pages stack unevenly.

Based on the same design as the Weko-RFDi, Weko will demonstrate its RFP unit, designed for remoistening purposes in specialist paper applications at Drupa.

Like the RFDi, the Weko-RFP reduces curling and waviness and increases the flatness of the sheet in decorative printing applications, such as wallpapers.

Weko will also exhibit its range of control electronic assemblies for the printing and converting industries.

This range also includes micro controllers that can be designed for specific monitoring and control applications.

Fieldbus connections (CAN) are standard.

The Weko stand at Drupa will be in Hall 16, Stand A71.
