Weber Marking Systems has become one of just eight UK coding companies and the first in Scotland to achieve GS1 UK accredited solution provider status.

Weber's managing director for UK and Ireland, Bill Knox, explained: "Weber has long prided itself on its ability to deliver complete coding systems tailored to customer needs and the GS1 accreditation is recognition of the of high level of skills and expertise within our organisation.

Our customers will benefit from the very latest knowledge, ensuring they are fully up-to-date with GS1 standards and that their bar codes achieve consistent readability at any stage in the retail and distribution chain." The GS1 UK accreditation scheme is claimed to enable barcode systems users to locate suppliers with the acknowledged expertise to deliver products and services based on the EAN.UCC system for bar coding.

That confirms their ability to devise and implement bar code systems appropriate to individual customer requirements that are fully EAN.UCC compliant.

To achieve accreditation, a provider must be trained and assessed in all areas of the EAN.UCC system and its business audited to ensure that its knowledge is fully embedded within their operations.

Helen Coote, GS1 UK solution provider manager, said: "We are delighted that Weber has joined our team of accredited solution providers.

This makes the company one of a small number of GS1 service providers that have gone a step further to offer their customers complete confidence, by having the knowledge and processes to consistently implement first-rate solutions that are fully GS1 compliant.".
