Automated Labelling System Heightens Efficiency

A Weber Marking Systems product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Sep 3, 2007

Faster and more efficient labelling is enabling Castleisland Mart, an Irish livestock auctioneer to make cost because of a new labelling system devised by Weber Marking Systems.

Prior to investing in the new system, Castleisland had been using paper labels, usually hand written, to detail lot numbers and these were then applied with glue.

The company installed a new automated labelling software package, including Weber's Zebra 2746e printer.

Castleisland then called in Weber to design a self-adhesive labelling system that would allow it to print the lot number automatically from the system.

Following a site visit to identify exact requirements, Weber recommended the combination of a 76mm x 73mm Fastyre label and the its Easymark B220 Ribbon, which have now been introduced following successful trials.

The label specification has also been refined by adding a perforation on the backing paper between each label to increase the ease of use by the operators.

Gerard Carmody of Castleisland said: "We wanted to make our operation more efficient by introducing self-adhesive labels.

We are very pleased with the new system, which is working well.

We have benefited from significant savings thanks to the use of self-adhesive labels, which have reduced our costs and the process is now also much less labour intensive, which means our operation is more efficient.".
