The supplier of static control systems to the flexography sector, WLT, is introducing a new web cleaning solution designed for the elimination of static and dust prior to printing Manufactured by static device manufacturer Simco, the new type DD web cleaner is more compact than the earlier model and now has its own integrated power supply

The built-in supply avoids the need for external support and makes the web cleaner self-sufficient.

Building on the success of the earlier model, the latest DD has also been fitted with a new vacuum and dust collection system, allowing it to perform even better.

Designed for installing on narrow web presses, the new unit can be fitted in very tight locations, making it ideal for the busy print shop, it is claimed.

Typical applications include using on presses for paper serviettes, kitchen rolls, labels, plastics and numerous other print related production processes.

Relatively inexpensive, the DD Web cleaning system will prevent the build up of dust on any surface, which can lead to poor print production, claimed WLT.

Reduced contamination also provides cost savings as the life of the print medium is extended, allowing the run-time of the press to be significantly increased.

The new type DD web cleaner is complementary to the range of static control systems offered by the company, including DC high voltage generators for pinning materials, handheld air guns, in-mould labelling systems, monitoring devices and air knives with ionising along with in-line ionisers for pneumatic conveyors.

WLT is now offering a Simco ionising air blower, with optional DIY installation, which it believes could bring major cost savings to the printing, slitting and rewinding industries.

The latest Type AS-20 ionising air blower is designed to eliminate static created in film sheeting during printing and processing, which if not removed can endanger staff and slow-down production.

WLT has also launched the P-Sh-N-air bar, which is used to control production-generated static in the printing, converting and packaging industries.

Also available from the company is the recently introduced Mistral ionising air knife designed to neutralise and remove impurities from flat and curved print surfaces.

The manufacturer, Simco, has claimed that cost savings of up to 70% over alternative technologies can be achieved.

WLT's director, Mike Essler said: "The new DD Web Cleaner is the latest breakthrough from Simco.

It is highly efficient and should bring cost savings to those involved in converting and printing.
