Bradford (UK) based WLT is launching a new static control device, the Performax, a double group of D bars which is the latest development from manufacturer Simco.

WLT is hoping to install the unit, which is available from July, into a large number of customers.

WLT believes it is suitable for the control of static in film, plastic and paper.

Target applications include rewinding, winding and web speeds up to 750 metres per minute.

It has a small LCD screen that indicates when there is a charge, the performance of the bars and if there is a problem arising from dirt-covered contacts, for example.

The fault indicator automatically alerts the operator in the event of a faulty hard arc, cable damage, bar damage or power supply failure, which all trigger the device to shutdown.

Said to be manufactured to withstand rugged factory conditions, the unit is produced in a compact space saving size.

Equipped with long life hastalloy pins, Performax is available with a plug-in wall converter, remote on and off capability and a one piece connecting cable.

Two output connectors connect it to the external power unit, which requires a standard 240v, 50Hz mains supply.

Other features include the ability to PLC connect the equipment to other machines, or to a computer for monitoring and data logging.

Said to be suitable for use in both hazardous and non-hazardous conditions, it is CE approved, UL listed and US rated as a Class I, Division 1, Group D approved.

WLT's director, Mike Essler commented: "Performax represents a significant development by Simco and will enable more companies to benefit from even better static control.

The unit is self-adjusting and can automatically change the voltage as necessary, to meet local circumstances.

With a significantly extended range over comparable equipment, we are anticipating a high level of interest following its launch this summer.".
