The supplier of static control systems to the flexography sector, WLT, is introducing a new web cleaning system designed for the elimination of static and dust prior to printing.
Static Control System Offers Data Logging
Bradford (UK) based WLT is launching a new static control device, the Performax, a double group of D bars which is the latest development from manufacturer Simco.
Developed by Italian labelling manufacturer Irplast, the labels are said by Advanced Dynamics to be competitive and aesthetic, whilst providing environmental benefits to those responsible for packaging and promoting food, drink and household items.
According to the company, the formula comprises bio-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film with a solvent-less adhesive coating that grips but does not stick on contact with itself.
That eliminates the need for paper backing, an advancement which translates in to a saving in printing time and increased label output.

Roll-Fed Labelling System Secures Contract
Specialists in bespoke labelling systems, Advanced Dynamics has designed and engineered an all-in-one labelling and reel-to-reel system for Paragon Group UK.
Due to the lack of backing strip, the linear amount per roll of labels is doubled, giving a 50 per cent reduction in label change-over time.
The resultant cost savings give the system appeal, said Advanced Dynamics but there is also an aesthetic benefit to liner-less labelling through the removal of potential for any possible paper flecks or adhesive ticks, thererby giving labels pristine, untarnished finishes.
Irplast has developed three patented systems.
Take Away is formulated to contain multi-sales as the clarity and quality of the label upholds the brand's integrity, said the company.
The water-based adhesive formula will not compromise the primary packaging when it is removed.
The system is available in a range of formats and accommodates plastic bottles (PET and PE) as well as multi-layer laminates, rigid and flexible packaging and boxes and cases.
Round shaped bottles can be grouped up to three and square shaped drinks cartons up to six.
Bar codes and indicators for product traceability can be printed.
Complimentary Label Tape is a wrap-around system that is described as primary labelling, with the advantage of partial or complete adhesive coating for easy tear-off.
The final member of the trio is Label Plastic, which can be morphed to the product shape, offering protection from scratching due to reverse printing.
It also covers greater areas accommodating more information, added Advanced Dynamics.
The company said that the success of the system, which is already popular in Italy, is attributed to Irplast's alignment with technological developments in machinery.
The new system fits in to an existing packaging line and can be customised to accommodate different product shapes.
All labels are dispensed using an end of line labelling machine.
The system uses a variety of applications, including primary labelling, multi-pack labelling and re-seal features.
