Unilever Germany has launched a limited edition range of flavoured sauces under the Knorr brand in time for World Cup football tournament.

Unilever Germany has launched a limited edition range of flavoured sauces under the Knorr brand in time for World Cup football tournament.

The pack designs produced by Interbrand in Germany are based on the football strips of Holland, Germany and Brazil.

The sleeves are printed in up to nine colours on high shrink PET, which provides the means to implement full body decoration on contoured containers, whilst still allowing clear areas to display the contents.

To aid the packaging development process, Wyndeham Kestrel supplied computer generated 3D images to Unilever Germany so that the company was able to shrink them on to the jars.

Wyndeham Kestrel's technical director, Gary Curtis said: "Because of the severe distortion qualities of many different jars and bottles, the use of this software is essential in providing perfect representations of the original designs on a huge variety of shapes." Once the concept had been approved, Wyndeham Kestrel managed the artwork approval and repro process to ensure brand consistency for the Knorr brand across the product range.

Carsten Hunger of Unilever Germany commented: "On such a complicated print and packaging project as this, Wyndeham Kestrel's expertise with developing the 3D images has been invaluable for Unilever's marketing department.

We were able to see how the products would look in-store well before finished products were available and also used the 3D images for point of sale and other promotional material.".
