Xaar is showcasing its range of inkjet printheads, peripherals and approved inks at the Printpack India 2005 exhibition until January 23.

On show at Xaar's stand - hall 7B, stand number B1 - will be the company's Omnidot printhead range, with the XJ128 printhead demonstrated in two Indian OEM wide-format solvent printers.

The range comprises the Omnidot 760 greyscale printheads and the Omnidot 380 binary printhead.

Hugh Baker-Smith, sales director for Xaar said: "We believe the Indian market presents immense opportunities for inkjet technology and will be a key player in the next phase of the inkjet industry's global development.

The opening of our new Indian office in New Delhi last November reflects what Xaar sees as a vibrant future for inkjet in the region and our attendance at this show is the next step in our drive to increase the awareness and uptake of Xaar's technology in India.

In addition Xaar will be highlighting the latest printhead in the XJ500 product family - the XJ500/180 CM.

It is claimed to provide an 80 per cent increase in speed compared to the standard XJ500 model, the XJ500/180 CM has been specifically developed for secondary packaging and outer-case coding applications.

Indian company, Macart Equipment will be running its new 1.5 metre Starjet wide format solvent printer, incorporating four Xaar XJ128 heads on the stand, alongside New Delhi-based Printek Engineerings new KGN-4233 machine, a 3.2 metre-wide solvent printer using eight XJ128 heads.

Baker-Smith added: "Both companies are excellent examples of the success of Xaar's philosophy in emerging markets for inkjet technology.

We understand that each country and market sector has a set of unique conditions and we always aim to work as closely as possible with local OEMs and inkjet innovators to develop market-specific solutions.

At Printpack India we are encouraging all those interested in digital printing technology to drop by the stand and discuss how Xaar can work with OEMs at a local level to transform their businesses with inkjet technology.

We have already seen significant local demand for Xaar-based products from a number of domestic inkjet innovators - two of whom we have on the stand at Printpack India.

Xaar will also be showing its new range of peripherals for use in production machines - the Print Control System and Ink Supply System - devised to enable, assist and support the production of high-specification inkjet printing machines said the company.

Based on a PCI card format, the Print Control System drives a series of electronic boards using optical fibres to link the cards and the printheads.

The system is claimed to be flexible - between one and 48 printheads can be driven at any time - offering customers a modular build approach.

It supports Xaar's XJ126, XJ500, Leopard, Omnidot and future printhead products.

The Ink Supply System provides a controlled path between the central reservoir of ink and the printheads, to ensure reliable jetting claimed Xaar.
