Xaar Ties Up Inkjet Solvent Ink Deal In China
Xaar and Beijing Saven Times Digital Technology have signed an agreement to enable Saven to sell C Series solvent ink certified for the XJ128 printheads in China.
It prints on to a variety of substrates at a claimed maximum speed of 180 square feet per hour in two pass mode.
Commented M S Dadu, Apsom's managing director: "The last few years have seen the digital inkjet market in India rapidly grow towards becoming a serious contender in the sign and wide format display sectors.
Through our work as the largest seller of imported wide format inkjet machines in India, we began to recognise a very distinctive gap in the market for a domestically-manufactured wide format inkjet printer to meet the specific colour and quality demands of the Indian sign-making industry." To that end, Dadu said in early 2004 that the company approached Xaar with the concept for its new wide format printer.

Printhead Helps Coder's Print At Speed
Prodigit 18 is a high resolution drop on demand coding and marking printer for porous and non-porous substrates that features the Xaar 128 printhead with an 18mm print width.
He added: "Our experience through operating as a major distribution channel provided us with a unique insight in to the direction the Indian market was heading.
In addition, we had also developed a thorough understanding of Xaar's technology, as the XJ128 printheads were in the overwhelming majority of the wide format printers being sold by us.
We could see Xaar had a strong foothold in the Indian market and it was one that was based on the true strength of its offering.
Once we approached Xaar directly, it was very helpful and easy to work with.
The company shares our vision of providing customers with high-quality and cost efficient inkjet solutions and, like us, providing a strong level of continuing service once the customer has brought the product.
It was on the back of this experience we purchased a Xaar evaluation kit and the development of our Colorjet wide format printer began." He said that Xaar also mentioned at the time of the discussions that it was intending to set up an Indian office and as the subsequent opening of the Xaar office in New Delhi demonstrated, it remained true to its word.
"That is a critical component in an emerging market - wide format printers are a significant investment for Indian printers, so they need to be extremely confident that the major investment will continue to be supported once the product is sold," commented Dadu.
The Apsom printer was very well received at Printpack India, according to Dadu, with five orders taken at the show and another batch production of 10 eight-head Colorjet-I models to be completed and shipped by the end of this month.
Continued Dadu: "The response we have received so far to the new printer is a credit to all those here at Apsom.
We, like Xaar, are leaders in our field and never compromise on quality product and the Colorjet-1 is no exception.
There are actually a number of components in the new printer, such as the paper feed and carriage and ink supply system that we developed ourselves.
We are striving to be the market leader in digital printing technology in India and provide products and services that consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
In addition to the XJ128 printheads, we have also taken a keen interest Xaar's XJ500 model and are continuing to explore opportunities in the market using this head." Apsom was established in 1993, initially as a services provider for the IT industry.
An ISO 9001-accredited company, its business has now evolved from initially being a hardware vendor to become a solutions provider for the sign-making industry.
The company has offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkota, Bangalore and Chennai and is projected to double its turnover every year in the next three years, it claimed. Request a free brochure from Xaar ...
