Inkjet Collaboration Opens New Markets
Xaar plc and Impika SA of Aubagne (France) have announced a joint agreement for the provision of integration services for Xaar printheads and other products.
Xaar plc, the Cambridge (UK) inkjet printing technology group and Impika SA of Aubagne (France) have announced a joint agreement for the provision of integration services for Xaar printheads and other products.
Under the agreement both parties will co-operate to provide complete turnkey installations for clients wishing to use Xaar technology for their production processes, to open up new applications and create bespoke systems.
Xaar said that Impika has long experience with inkjet technology, including its application to the printing of plastic and smart cards, packaging and labelling as well as special applications for printing on CDs, glass and metal.
Impika is also developing systems based on its material jetting technology for micro-electronics and biomedical applications.
Nigel Berry, Xaar's deputy chief executive officer, commented: "We previously stated our intention to create partnerships with a small number of high quality integrators that can offer existing and potential users of our technology a complete package of integration skills and bespoke equipment.
We have known the team at Impika for some time now and have been impressed by their standards and innovation.
I look forward to working with them on future projects." Paul Morgavi, Impika's chief executive officer, said: "Xaar is a great partner for us and we are already forming strong links with its technical and marketing teams.
There is a clear synergy between our companies with both parties introducing new markets in to the joint relationship.
Last year we introduced our C9000 product based on Xaar's Leopard printhead and we are working on various projects for adapting our IPS print engine to the next generation of Xaar printheads, like the Omnidot and HSS.
Full commercial release of these products is anticipated later this year or early next year.".
