Xaar the inkjet printing technology group in Cambridge (UK) has appointed Robert Eckelmann as a non-executive director, with effect from October 1.

Xaar the inkjet printing technology group in Cambridge (UK) has appointed Robert Eckelmann as a non-executive director, with effect from October 1.

Eckelmann (49) started his career with the US Government in the Department of Commerce, where he was involved in global trade policy for the science and electronics sector.

In 1988 he joined Intel Corporation at an early stage in its development before moving to Singapore to launch Intel's Asian business.

He later became vice president and general manager for the whole EMEA region.

Eckelmann, a US citizen, holds several European non-executive directorships, including Wolfson Microelectronics plc in the UK.

Xaar's chairman, Arie Rosenfeld commented: "Rob Eckelmann has an excellent track record of working with growing electronics companies.

His experience at Intel and internationally will enable him to contribute to the next stage of our growth as it moves forward in to new markets and geographical regions.".
