Ipex Sees High Speed Drop On Demand Printing
At Ipex 2006 Xaar will show, for the first time, an example of equipment utilising the company's hybrid side-shooter (HSS) technology.
At Ipex 2006 Xaar will show, for the first time, an example of equipment utilising the company's hybrid side-shooter (HSS) technology.
Announced in 2005, the HSS platform combines piezo drop-on-demand (DOD) technology with Xaar's patented 'through-flow' design.
The new platform will be shown in a high-speed, single-pass machine, printing on to a range of substrates.
In hall 9, on stand 09-E50, the piezoelectric inkjet company will host equipment from key manufacturers such as Zund, Riso and New System and approved integrators including Xennia, iTi and Impika to illustrate inkjet's capability, versatility and potential, said the company.
The company's partners have also committed to exhibiting equipment using other printheads from Xaar's range.
They include systems integrators ITI and Xennia, who will demonstrate how Xaar's patented multi-pulse, greyscale (variable drop size) Omnidot is helping them to deliver photographic-quality images to meet high precision-printing applications.
ITI will exhibit its Digital Web Press developed for high production volume manufacturing requiring small runs of any given image on label stock, or other flexible substrates.
The press uses Xaar's Omnidot 760 printheads to deliver colour and monochromatic printing, but is also adaptable for electrical and biomedical production applications.
Xennia will show its high throughput, Xenjet 4000 print engine utilising Omnidot 760 printheads.
It was developed micro-dispensing and rapid prototyping applications in a variety of sectors, including packaging.
Other examples will include how Xaar's technology is at the heart of a range of applications including CD and label printing.
As well as demonstrating the company's printheads, the products also illustrate Xaar's advancements in extending the range of ink and substrate combinations in collaboration with ink manufacturers, believes the company.
Xaar will also dedicate an area of its stand for displaying equipment where its technology is being used specifically for applications within the rapidly expanding sector of coding and marking.
On display will be examples of coding and marking systems from global suppliers such as Domino and Zipher, and machines such as an industrial egg printer from Honaz, an outercase packaging printer from ALE, and a franking machine from Frama.
Visitors will not only be able to view how Xaar's technology is currently being used, they will also be able to learn about where the future of inkjet lies, added the company.
Speaking at Ipex's Innov8 event on April 6t, Werner Zapka, Xaars advanced manufacturing technology manager and Rolf Alberg, Thin Film Electronics' managing director, will present a case study covering inkjet printing of functional all-polymer non-volatile re-writable memory arrays.
Also, Peter Addington, Xaar's, business development manager and ITI will present a label printing case study at the Flexible Packaging Conference on April 4 and 10.
