Inkjet Printhead Production Moves Up A Gear

Xaar's 1001 printhead is now being manufactured in higher volumes following the opening of a new production facility at the company's factory in Huntingdon.

The company has also completed certification of its quality management system to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2000.

The 1001 printhead is said to be designed for high-speed, single-pass applications and is based on Xaar's patented Hybrid Side-Shooter technology.

Producing variable drop sizes, the new printhead combines piezo technology with Xaar's patented 'through flow' design.

Key features that are said to be attracting manufacturers of inkjet printing systems include a claimed high performance specification, drop placement accuracy with variable drop sizes, self-priming and self-cleaning, together with repeatability and reliability.

The system is also flexible, handling a variety of inks and industrial fluids.
