Digital ink for ceramics firm is new Xaar partner

Chimigraf, a manufacturer of digital inks for the ceramics industry, has become a Xaar approved ink partner.

Xaar manufactures inkjet printheads which are featured in new digital ceramic tile printers.

The company said that its strategy to form partnerships with specialist ink manufacturers results in a range of inks being approved for use with Xaar-enabled digital printers.

Dr Jill Woods, Xaar's ink product manager, commented: "Digital printing in the ceramics industry is at an early stage but it is forecast to grow rapidly with many traditional flexo and screen applications being replaced with flexible and cost-effective digital alternatives.

Our latest 1001 printhead features our Hybrid Side Shooter (HSS) printhead, which incorporates our patented TF Technology, which sends ink past each nozzle orifice, keeping the channels primed and fully operational." She continued: "This means it can jet complex fluids, such as ceramics inks, consistently and reliably.

By working closely with ceramics ink specialists such as Chimigraf we can ensure that end users have a choice of inks that they can be confident will produce good results when used with Xaar printheads." Chimigraf manufactures water, solvent and UV-based inks for flexography, rotogravure, screen and digital printing.

The company's research and development programme is said to be focused on developing inks and coatings for the graphic arts and industrial markets, including ceramics, decoratives and textiles.
