According to Xennia, thermal inkjet (TIJ) is the technology of choice for many mailing and addressing and package coding and marking applications due to high resolution, ease of use and low cost.
However, until now, TIJ adoption in those applications has been limited by a modest ink portfolio for non-porous substrates.
Through a patented UV cure formulation Xenjet Rapide is claimed to provide instant in-line curing at print resolutions of up to 600 dots per inch (dpi) at speeds of over 200 feet per minute on most substrates, including non-porous materials previously classed as difficult or impossible.
Xenjet Rapide is the first Xennia product to be launched under agreement with Hewlett-Packard Speciality Printing Systems.
Further Xenjet Rapide colours and supply of bulk ink are planned for this year addeed Xennia.
Alan Hudd, Xennia's chief executive officer, is enthusiastic about the launch and said: "The potential for UV curable thermal inkjet inks is enormous and Xenjet Rapide will be the start of an industry revolution.
UV curable inks will showcase the elegant simplicity of TIJ technology and enable huge economies of scale in commercial and industrial applications.
TIJ technology together with UV curable inks will offer a unique value proposition for speed and resolution at a given cost for many semi-porous and non-porous applications." Commenting on behalf of HP Speciality Printing Systems, Darren McGrath, SPS supplies product manager fro Xennia, added: "The new Xennia UV curable ink expands HP thermal inkjet media coverage in to the non-porous substrate range.
The new UV curable ink will also expand the usage of HP thermal inkjet in to new markets in the package coding and mail printing industries." Visitors to Ipex will be able to see Xenjet Rapide Black in action on the Xennia stand in hall 9, stand E47.
Xennia will also have a presence on the HP stand in hall 4, stand A01.
