Xeikon has announced it is to demonstrate its 3300 digital colour label press at Labelexpo Americas 2008.

The Xeikon 3300 was unveiled at drupa 2008.

The company said the press has a top speed of 63 feet per minute, offers true 1,200 dpi at four bits per spot, and is suited for short to medium print runs and 'just in time' jobs.

The press offers a duty cycle of 2,300,000 feet per month and features full rotary printing technology, enabling printing at rated engine speeds.

Labels of various formats and sizes can be printed in the same run and Xeikon said the press can print the four process colours, plus a range of standard or custom spot colours.

The speed of the press is independent of the number of colours required for a specific job.

The Xeikon 3300 can also apply security toner for anti-counterfeiting applications, and opaque white to create a 'no label look' on transparent labels.

An additional feature of the Xeikon 3300 is its X-800 digital front end, which enables the implementation of fully automated workflows in any production environment, integrating with any MIS.

Its modular set-up allows the separation of prepress functionality from press operation.

Xeikon said the X-800 offers ICC colour management and allows post-RIP colour adjustment.

The X-800 processes all common input files and lowers the threshold for including metadata such as sequential numbers or barcodes.

At Labelexpo Americas, labels produced on the Xeikon 3300 will be die-cut, UV-coated, super-glossed and rewound in-line on the GM finishing equipment.
