Xitron Launches Xenith Extreme Workflow With JDF
Xitron has launched the new 6.0 version of Xenith Extreme.
The new plug-in and driver for Navigator RIPs and Raster Blaster TIFF Catchers is claimed to include the ability to automatically generate ink key settings files used by the Heidelberg QM-DI.
Previous versions have supported the direct-to-press devices but have not included the automatic ink key feature.
The plug-in and driver provides a thumbnail of the file in a format compatible with the DI press consoles and supports both eight-key and 12-key systems.
The plugin is available for the entire family of Xitron RIPs and workflows, including the Navigator Harlequin-based RIP, Rasterblaster TIFF catcher, Xenith 4 PDF and Xenith Extreme Adobe-based workflows.
Ketan Shah of Sir Speedy Printers, one of Xitron's beta testers for the new interface, commented: "We enjoy much greater colour accuracy and a 10-fold performance increase over our old RIP.
We also like the ability to more accurately proof our RIPped jobs on screen prior to imaging." R Patrick French, the vice president of sales and marketing for Xitron, said: "Because our products drive more than 150 devices, it is logical that we would support the latest technology in the graphic arts market." Existing users of the Presstek plug-in may upgrade at no charge by downloading the new plug-in from the Xitron website.
