Xitron is now shipping Xiflow 2.5 RIP Manager for Harlequin RIPs.

Xiflow 2.5 features automatic installation and configuration when used with the Navigator 7.0 RIP, enhanced job naming and job tracking, automatic client log-in and a 45-day trial mode for prospective users, said the company.

Xitron developed Xiflow to serve as a RIP manager for version 5.5 and higher Harlequin RIPs, including those marketed by A B Dick, Agfa, Compose, ECRM, Eskographics, Highwater, Mitsubishi, Presstek and Screen, as well as Xitron's own Navigator products.

The company believes that moving workflow control from the RIP platform to the pre-press operator workstation, allows creation of multiple job streams for all job types frequently handled by a pre-press department.

Options such as the PDF tools with PDF creation and pre-flighting, an enhanced ROAM viewer, integration with third-party imposition products and support for multiple clients and RIPs add to Xiflow's feature list, added the company.

Jim Mellema, president of Xitron reseller Compudoc, said: "My customers have seen a payback period of less than 30-days with the product." One user, Char Morris of MultiCopy agreed, adding: "We are able to catch errors further upstream and avoid costly mistakes since we installed Xiflow." The Navigator RIP drives more than 150 output devices ranging from mono and colour proofers, to film image setters and CTP and direct-to-press systems.

With claimed annual shipments of nearly 1,500 RIPs, Xitron said that it is the largest independent provider of Harlequin RIPs on the market.
