Xitron the independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow systems has started shipments of Navigator GPS featuring the Navigator RIP and Navigator RIP Manager.

Navigator GPS was announced and demonstrated at the Print 05 exhibiton in September.

It includes the latest release of the Navigator RIP (based on Harlequin RIP core technology) along with the Navigator RIP Manager, a client-based software tool that allows pre-press operators control of the RIP from their desktops.

The new release also includes vDot-II, Xitron's exclusive proofing plug-in option for Epson K3 printers, including the Epson 2400, 4800, 7800 and 9800.

The new device driver provides users with a professional-quality RIP to drive the printers for proofing applications, said Xitron.

Utilising the same RIP technology for proofing and final output helps to ensure data integrity and consistency, especially critical in an all digital environment, added the company.

"Our pre-press department was using four different RIPS.

This often led to inconsistencies between the resulting outputs from the separate RIPS.

With Navigator GPS we are able to streamline everything in to one workflow," said Kim Robinson of the Envelope Printery.
