Xitron has launched a 'help' column for Harlequin RIP users entitled 'Tips and Tricks', which is available via a link from the Xitron website.
'Tips and Tricks' was conceived by Xitron as another means of assisting users in getting the most out of their RIP investment.
Realising that the articles would benefit not only Navigator (Xitron's branded Harlequin RIP) users, but also users of other Harlequin-based RIPS, the column will be posted on the company website and is open to everyone, said the company.
Written by Xitron's Eric Nelsen, the product manager for Navigator and Kern Kuipers, the company's test engineering manager, the monthly column will feature advice based on real support issues with which Xitron assists customers daily.
The first column is entitled 'Moving Away From Appletalk' and helps users change from Appletalk to what the company believes is a better means of communication between their pre-press workstations and their Harlequin RIPs.
R Patrick French, Xitron's vice president of sales and marketing, said: "We have shipped more than 13,000 RIPs to customers world-wide.
Our goal is to make sure those users get the most from their investments and this new column is just one more way Xitron can provide an even better level of support to our dealers, distributors and customers worldwide." In addition to the on-line column on the Xitron website, readers may also request and download a PDF that includes detailed step-by-step procedures outlined in the on-line column.
Every month, as new columns are made available, readers who have requested updates will be emailed a link to the latest column.
Bret A Farrah, the company's vice president for support services, commented: "In a 2005 survey of dealers, distributors, end-users and industry partners, Xitron support received very high marks.
Providing educational materials such as this column is a continuation of our commitment to provide the highest level of support possible to the industry.".
