Xitron has made available the latest version of Navigator Chinese RIP - Version 7.

Navigator Chinese RIP version 7 is Xitron's latest release for the Chinese market, intended for installations requiring either traditional or simplified Chinese language support.

By incorporating both languages, Xitron believes it brings the latest in RIP technology to one of the world's most rapidly growing market segments.

The core RIP is registered with the Chinese Software Registration Centre.

Navigator 7.0 is claimed to provide enhancements over previous versions of the Navigator RIP, including native support for PDF 1.5 files, PDF/X-1a:2003 and PDF/X3:2003 formats.

New features include a more advanced font emulation that simulates portions of missing fonts in PDF files, said Xitron.

The software will make a typographically acceptable match to missing fonts with no text overflow and with appropriate character spacing, weight and width for many Roman-based fonts.

Enhancements to colour management have also been incorporated in to the latest RIP release.

The new release is also said to support Xitron's range of output devices from plain-paper proofers to film and plate setters and even the latest digital presses.

Optional features and plug-ins are available for the Navigator Chinese RIP version 7 including Trappro, an in-RIP automated trapping program, Simple Imposition, an in-RIP imposition system designed to handle basic two-up imposition requirements, HDS stochastic screening for FM-screening and plug-ins to drive the most popular output devices.

Jay Poon, Xitron's sales director for Asia Pacific, explained: "Our Chinese customers are extremely pleased to have a proven RIP like the Navigator in their own language.

Xitron has a long history of providing quality systems to the graphic arts market and as China's market growth continues, access to this type of product is essential for the success of many of our customers." R Patrick French, Xitron's vice president of sales and marketing, said: "Xitron is committed to the Pacific region and specifically to the Asian marketplace.

Our most recent release of the Navigator RIP in traditional and simplified Chinese is a prime example of that commitment.".
