A Xitron product story

Xitron has announced the release of Xenith Aero, charting a new course in workflow development.

Xenith Aero takes its place as the premier workflow offering in Xitron's expanding line of RIP and workflow solutions, which already includes Navigator GPS, Xenith 4PDF and Xenith Extreme.

Based on Adobe core technology, Xenith Aero is the perfect solution for larger commercial printers.

As a fully featured workflow, Xenith Aero includes both Mac and Windows-based client software giving prepress operators full control of the workflow from any desktop.

Xenith Aero will be offered in two versions based on output size, Aero 4 and Aero 8.

Aero 4 supports output up to 32.67" x 26.6" while Aero 8 supports output up to 45.6" x 37".

For even larger output, a VLF option is available.

Users who purchase an Aero 4 and later change output devices and require the larger format will be able to purchase an upgrade to Aero 8.

Standard features for all versions include Adobe job tickets, ink re-mapping, PDF creation and preflighting, norm proofing, automated in-RIP trapping, soft-proofing, in-RIP imposition, and automated archival.

"Xitron has been extremely successful in providing workflow solutions to small and mid-size printers," stated R.

Patrick French, Xitron's Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

"These solutions have allowed our customers to benefit from improvements in productivity and efficiency in their production." Xenith Aero empowers printers by giving them total control over every job from beginning to end, including in-RIP imposition and JDF connectivity.

With automated prepress tasks and cutting-edge technology, Xenith Aero provides everything printers need to increase throughput, improve quality, reduce errors, and maximize performance.

Xenith Aero supports more than 150 output devices including proofers, imagesetters, platesetters, digital presses and production copiers and printers.

Xenith Aero is designed to meet the needs of a printer's business today and expand to meet their needs as they grow.

"Additional control over the imposition process is our most frequently requested feature enhancement," stated Jeffrey Nelson, Product Manager, Xenith Solutions at Xitron.

"The in-RIP imposition capabilities of Xenith Aero were designed to meet this request".

"Working in conjunction with Dynagram, we are providing Xenith Aero users with not only a powerful in-RIP imposition capability, but the ability to export their existing DyanStrip templates for use in Xenith Aero." Xenith Aero allows pages to be submitted as they are completed rather than waiting until the entire job or signature is complete.

The Run List will decide where the pages need to be placed in the final job and organized during prepress.

Revisions are automatically tracked providing a history of all job changes to further enhance feedback.

The Xitron Screening Suite included in Xenith Aero offers traditional AM and optional FM screening.

Combining the best of both worlds, Xenith's Dual Screening provides the high quality of the optional FM screening with the speed and ease of AM screening.

Xenith allows the operator to control which elements use AM or FM screens within a job or even within a page.

Optionally, Xenith Aero offers Xitron's unique hybrid screening option, XMS, providing a high degree of control for a select group of CTP and direct imaging presses and media.

JDF options include support for third-party JDF-compliant imposition packages as well as JDF Connect, supporting one- or two-way communication with a printer's MIS or manufacturing production system.

Xenith Aero also supports data calls from ODBC compliant databases, allowing information from the workflow to feed directly into other systems within the printer's operation.

Xenith Aero has undergone extensive testing at select Xenith Extreme customer sites this past summer.

"We needed to determine how quickly an existing user would be able to transition to Xenith Aero," stated Bret A.

Farrah, Vice President, Support Services for Xitron.

"We found that existing users were able to acclimate quite quickly and easily".

"These sites have discontinued use of their previous systems and moved their production to Xenith Aero." Xenith Aero is being offered as a bundled solution through Xitron's network of dealers and distributors in North America and Europe.

This is a turnkey system including Xenith Aero software, Xenith Aero Server, output device interface, onsite installation and a combination of classroom and onsite operator training for two primary operators, and three-years of Xitron TotalCare Support.

TotalCare Support provides full coverage for the hardware including the Xenith Aero Server as well as software technical support with complimentary minor product updates and discounts on major upgrades and other services.

Xitron products are available through a network of OEMS, Distributors, Dealers, and System Integrators worldwide.

Xitron RIPs and workflow solutions drive more than 150 output devices ranging from black and white and color proofers, to film imagesetters and the latest in CTP and direct-to-press systems.

With shipments of more than 14,000 RIPs, Xitron is the largest independent provider of RIPs in the market.
