Vanguard Graphics International (VGI) is a privately-held holding company that specialises in acquiring and managing graphic arts companies that serve small to medium sized printers.
VGI also owns Printware of St Paul, Minnesota (USA) a provider of pre-press systems focused on computer-to-plate systems.
VGI includes in its stable Highwater Designs of Cheltenham (UK) , which provides a line of claimed high performance RIP's and metal platesetters.
Stanley Goldberg, president and chief executive officer of VGI, said: "The acquisition of Xitron, along with our other portfolio companies, enhances our position as providers of best of class systems that our affiliates and customers can utilise to help them operate more efficiently and effectively." Goldberg further commented: "Xitron's expertise in workflow, coupled with its recent entry in to the short run digital press market, reflects a strong complement to the technology, products and systems offered by other VGI companies." Jim Thrush, the president of Xitron, added: "Our ability to bring more products to market as a result of being a part of the Vanguard group will be just one of the many positive aspects of this combination.
Interestingly, Xitron has been working with Highwater Designs for many years sharing selected technology to help meet the needs of our respective markets.
Now, as a part of VGI, we can further enhance our focus on the technological changes and challenges faced by our customers.".
