Short-Run Colour Digital Press Runs At 36ppm
Xitron has begun distributing its new Prism short-run colour digital press in North America following successful beta and dealer training programmes.
Xitron has begun distributing its new Prism short-run colour digital press in North America following successful beta and dealer training programmes.
Prism is claimed by Xitron to be a productive LED-based plain paper colour digital press with features and capabilities to meet the tough demands of small to mid-size commercial and in-plant printers.
The company said that Prism possesses 36 pages per minute (ppm) colour output, with automated and manual duplex printing capability, whilst its production-ready Navigator GPS RIP offers multiple output device control and support.
The digital press is said to have flexible media support for multiple applications up to 12.9" x 47.24" on 100gsm cover media and its multi-system support allows several Prism engines to operate from a single RIP.
There are also optional productivity enhancement tools, including in-RIP imposition and PDF creation and pre-flighting, whilst the Prism's has a low price without monthly minimums, or click charges.
R Patrick French, vice president of sales and marketing for Xitron, commented: "The Prism digital press helps small to mid-size printers to affordably capitalise on new business opportunities, providing them the ability to quickly produce high quality short-run colour jobs on an economical basis.
This should help printers tap markets where they might have previously had trouble competing." He added that the combination of Harlequin RIP technology from Global Graphics Software, along with the RIP Manager workflow and plug-ins developed by Xitron, sets the Prism apart from other systems in the market.
Now, instead of each output device relying on separate (and possibly different) RIP technologies, Navigator GPS becomes the core interpreter for virtually all output.
The results are predictable and reliable across all devices, including inkjet proofers, platesetters and direct imaging offset presses.
Navigator's RIP Manager is said to enhance productivity and reduces errors through workflow automation.
Using technology often found in expensive, high end workflow systems, the RIP Manager PDF tools option automates PDF creation and job pre-flighting, whilst further streamlining production, said Xitron.
Based on industry standard Enfocus libraries, pre-flight profiles are customisable for individual production requirements.
For a limited time, customers who place Prism orders for shipment by June 29, will also receive the integrated imposition option at no charge.
The imposition option provides automated in-RIP imposition with custom templates for common types of applications.
